PayPal partners with SEO firm

PayPal has entered the Search Engine Optimization business, today emailing many millions of active users with advice it has partnered with Dejan SEO in Australia. The email started with the paragraph “Did you know that 90% of first time visitors to websites come from search engines? And that 70% of people searching on Google don’t look past the first results page?
It’s statistics like these that make Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), the process of improving how your website is listed in search results such as Google, a key component of the marketing plan for any online business.”
They are offering their customers a chance to win one of three SEO packages, worth $8000. The trouble is that $8,000 may not get you far when it comes to Search Engine Optimization. How many links will you get in these ‘packages’?
One would wonder why PayPal is going down this path. Is it because they know that more traffic to their client’s websites means more sales and more transactions? How will it make all of PayPal’s other customers feel, especially those who operate Search Engine Optimization businesses?
The real trick when it comes to SEO, is to learn for yourself. You could spend tens of thousands of dollars employing Search Engine Companies who don’t share your passion and knowledge and at the end of the process be little or no better off.
Search Engine Optimization companies that offer out of the box packages like Bronze, Silver & Gold are usually in it for the money, not to benefit their customers. SEO is not a business where there can be a “one size fits all”. If you were to use some of the tools on this site you will soon realize the complexities involved and the varying amount of input require by you depending on the industry you are in and the keywords that you are competing for.
SEO is an ongoing process that may take many months, if not years for you to see the true benefits. Older links and older domains will bring greater weight over time.
PayPal’s Online Business Insight subscribers also received a special offer to “Get inspired at the 2012 Professional eBay and eCommerce Sellers (PeSA) Internet Conference. They were invited to purchase a ticket now and enjoy the early-bird price of $395. That’s a saving of $100!”
The email also contained a comment from Phil Leahy from the Professional eBay & eCommerce Sellers Alliance. He says “when it comes to great search engine optimisation, the 80/20 rule applies. 80% of SEO is about link building with other sites and 20 per cent is about the content on the page,” he advises, adding that “getting the best ranking is about having high authority sites linking to your sites.”
What makes this email so interesting is that PayPal is now selling third party products and promoting other businesses through its network of online customers. This could be bringing phenomenal amounts of traffic to those businesses it supports! I wonder how you can become one of them?

So you’ve got a website? You’ve been struggling with the fact that it’s on page ten and no one looks at it! You do a bit of research and you find out that you need to get links back to your site. All the articles you’ve read say that it’s important to submit your site to as many directories as possible!
So you sit their night after night searching for a Free directory to submit to and when you find one you begin typing in your website’s Title, the URL and some information and you click submit after trying to decipher the Captcha! Then you go back to your google search, you find another one and ditto!
You then check your emails to discover you need to confirm or validate your email address. You reply to the email and then a few weeks or months later you get an email back to tell you your submission has been approved.
After a while, you decide that it may be easier if you create a word pad or text document so you can copy and paste all of your site’s information into the submission forms of directory sites and therefore add your site to more directories.
But after months of doing this, you don’t seem to be ranking any better, so you decide to engage the services of someone to do your directory submissions for you. But then, they take your money and you never hear from them again.
Then you receive an email from some chipmunk by the name of Michael Taylor offers you a deal on ‘Automatic Link Directory Submitter’ Software. The email offers you an ‘unconditional money back guarantee’. It even says ‘ ”Is this software really going to work?” Well we would like to offer you the chance to try it out, risk-free for 30 days.’ You think Wow! You buy the product on your paypal account, and it doesn’t work. Not only is it not automatic, but most of the directories in its database don’t exist. So you try to get a refund and the guy laughs at you. You go to Paypal in order to get your money back and you will soon discover that PayPal does not issue refunds for intangible items – therefore you will never see your money again!
So you finally decide, I need to get some decent directory submission software. Well, after you spend a few hours doing your research, you’ll come up with a product called Submit Eaze. This one may not be the cheapest, but it actually works! And if there are any issues, the supplier will fix them and communicate with you! I have now submitted some of my websites to thousands of directories using this product and can personally vouch for it.
Additionally, if you don’t want to do it yourself, here’s a cost effective, inexpensive Directory Submission service where you can get thousands of links for just a few hundred bucks! And if you’re still manually submitting your site, then we’ve found a few more free directories for you to submit to!
Don’t forget that adding your site as a ‘Featured Link’ is worth every penny. You will find you get thousands of links back and often from pages with decent page rank, whereas a normal link submission may only deliver one link back to you!

If you want your website to rank well in search engines you must have a blog on your website. Blogs create fresh content and add pages to your website. You are probably already an expert in your field and everyone has a story to tell.
If you’re passionate about what you do and your business, then it shouldn’t be hard for you to think of a story to tell your customers on a
regular basis!
Here is an example of a Real Estate Blog. There are numerous sites that provide suggestions for topics that you can write that are relevant to your business. No matter what line of business you’re in, customers will appreciate hearing your story! Another interesting blog I found was this Bean Bag Blog.
Make your content interesting and unique. Try to avoid copying other people’s content, as this will not assist you! There are numerous stories about bloggers who are now enjoying substantial income from their blogs. They have done this, simply by writing regularly on a topic that interest them and they are knowledgeable about.
Once you’ve written a blog post, then you should bookmark it on sites such as Stumbleupon - Linkedin - Diigo & Digg
You can also ‘tweet’ it on Twitter and add your link on your Facebook page! You do have a Facebook page don’t you?
Within your blog, you can create links back to other pages on your website. For example, have you seen our article on SEO for beginners?
Make sure you add an image that will grab a reader’s attention. A blog post is like an advertisement. It may be seen by thousands of potential customers. When you upload an image make sure your image has ‘alt image tags’ that are relevant to your post. Search engines can’t see
pictures, only the file name or the ‘alt image tag’ you add to the image.
And last but not least, add a link back to your posts from your newsletter. If you’re sending a regular e-newsletter to your customer base, are you linking back to your website in order to increase traffic? Or are you simply writing newsletter content in an email with no links and hence
no benefits to your website traffic?
I hope you enjoyed this post!
